Supported payment methods
This article describes the ways you can pay for your Open Exchange Rates account.
Payment via Credit/Debit Card (default)
Our default payment method is currently recurring credit/debit card subscription. Using this method, you simply need to complete the subscription setup process, and we will automatically charge you monthly or annually until you cancel.
If you can't pay using a credit/debit card subscription, we can offer monthly payments by PayPal, or annual payments via PayPal or bank/wire transfer.
What if I forget to cancel my card subscription?
If you forget to cancel your subscription and you're charged again, please contact us and we will refund your payment straight away, no questions asked.
What if I only need to subscribe for one month?
If you only need one month of service with one of our paid plans, you may set up a recurring subscription and then cancel it immediately (or we can do this for you). Your account will be 'paid up' for the next month, after which it will return to our Free plan. Please contact us for assistance.
Recurring PayPal Subscription
If you can't pay using a credit/debit card, we can offer a monthly or annual payment via a Paypal.
To set this up, please sign up (or upgrade) to the plan you require, then send us an email with your needs.
We'll set up your account for Paypal payments.
Payments charged on our behalf by PayPal will appear on your account statement as "PP*OPENEXCH" or "PP*OPEN EXCHANGE RATES".
Payment via Bank/Wire Transfer
We offer invoice payment via bank/wire transfer for annual subscriptions.
Please sign up (or upgrade) to the plan you require (selecting annual billing), then close the checkout window and send us an email with your needs.
We'll send you an invoice and wire transfer information within one business day. We kindly ask that you pay your invoice on receipt, although we can arrange flexible terms to suit your organisation if need be. You can begin using your account immediately while we arrange payment.
We'll email you with a new invoice and payment instructions two weeks before the start of your next billing period.
Payment via Bitcoin
We also accept payment via Bitcoin for annual subscriptions. Please sign up (or upgrade) to the plan you require (selecting annual billing), then close the checkout window and send us an email letting us know you'd like to send Bitcoin to cover your account.
We'll send you an invoice and a unique Bitcoin address within one business day.
We'll then email you with a new invoice when it's time to renew.
Payment via cheque
We don't currently offer payment by cheque, except in very rare circumstances where alternate methods aren't available.
